CygNet Backup Recommendations
CygNet Software recommends the following Backup procedure:
- Develop and test a backup and restoration plan.
- Stagger start times for service backups to minimize system disruptions to remaining services. Backup during scheduled time windows in the hours when the system is under reduced demand.
- Write backups to a different physical drive on the same server than the services are running on. If applicable, backups can be written to any suitable folder on a RAID system.
- Store patches on a drive other than the services drive.
- Use the COPY_BACKUP_TO keyword to copy the completed backup files to a network server share. If a network drive is configured as the primary backup destination, if the network connection fails so too will the backup.
- Write down the configuration information about your system. See Installation Configuration Worksheet.
